GFA-555se power amplifier represents the pinnacle of ADCOM’s audio engineering. This Nelson Pass design broke ground when it came out in the 80’s, getting rave reviews and providing tank-like reliability at a decent price. That these audio power amplifiers are still much in demand after so much time is a strong testament to their value and durability.

All of the pro’s of the original GFA-555 and improved model GFA-555 II plus the GFA-555se includes toggle switch selectable single-ended RCA or XLR inputs which are TRUE balanced differential inputs (*confirmed by the factory engineers). Clean design, simple signal-path, heavy duty power supply (no inexpensive ‘switching power supply” as many others use) , class A/B operation and great performance for the price.

I have the pair (GFA 555SE- GFP 915) and I love them, awesome sound, running with Magnum Dynalab ft101a etude tuner , Philips 880 cd player, Nakamichi CR 1A cassette player, Polk audio Monitor 10 b series 2 speakers, music comes through with impeccable quality, clarity ,and sound staging. these are a winner give a listen!!

The GFA-555se offers excellent dynamic performance. One can clearly appreciate the pop or attack when a drum stick hits the snare or hear a rim shot. Low level dynamics, the quiet shifting of intensity of a voice, or the way Brad Paisley changes the force with which he plucks almost every guitar string, is apparent and enjoyable

The Adcom GFA-555se may lack a few of the circuit niceties that are now part and parcel on modern amplifier designs – such as a standby circuit, for one – but it punches so far above its weight when it comes to must-haves such as high power, low noise, low distortion, extraordinary extended frequency response and, of course, superb sound, that it deserves to be included on the ‘must-listen list’ of anyone in the market for high-quality, high-fidelity power amplification
